Twitter Banner Maker

A 1500x500 header with your line, your handle and your colour.

How it works

What is the Twitter Banner Maker?

The Twitter Banner Maker is a free tool that builds a 1500x500 pixel X header image from your words. Enter a headline, a supporting line and your handle, pick an accent colour, a background and a text alignment, and download a PNG. An optional guide shows where the profile photo covers the banner and where phones crop it.

How to use the Twitter Banner Maker

  1. Type a Headline, a Supporting line and your Handle.
  2. Pick an Accent colour, a Background (Solid, Soft gradient or Subtle grid) and a Text alignment (Left, Centre or Right).
  3. Tick Show safe-zone guide to see where the profile photo and phone crops fall. The guide is never exported.
  4. Choose an Export scale and press Download PNG, then upload the file as your header in Edit profile on X.

What size is a Twitter banner?

An X header is 1500x500 pixels, a 3:1 ratio. The profile photo is separate: 400x400 pixels, uploaded square and shown as a circle.

This maker draws at 1500x500 every time, so the file fits without X having to stretch or crop it on upload. Header images can be JPG or PNG, and the download is a PNG, which keeps text sharp.

Where does a Twitter banner get cropped?

On desktop, the round profile photo sits over the lower left of the banner. On narrow screens, a strip is trimmed from the top and the bottom.

Keep your headline and handle away from both. Tick Show safe-zone guide to see the photo area and the crop bands on the preview while you place the text.

Will the text on my Twitter banner be readable?

On a Solid background the maker picks the text colour for you: dark text on a light accent colour and white text on a dark one, judged by the colour's brightness. Soft gradient and Subtle grid are pale, so their text is always dark, with the handle in your accent colour.

The headline is set large and the supporting line smaller, and both wrap onto more lines when they run long. The text block sits just above the middle, at least 120 pixels in from the sides. A short headline reads at a glance, which matters on a phone, where the banner shows much smaller. The X profile audit checks the rest of the profile, from the header image to the bio.

Can you add a photo or logo to the banner?

No. This maker builds text banners: a headline, a supporting line and your handle on a solid colour, a soft gradient or a subtle grid. There is no image upload, which keeps the result clean and makes the text the point of the header.

That suits a header whose job is to say what you do. If you want a photo behind the text, make the banner in an image editor at 1500x500 and use the safe-zone advice on this page for where the text goes.

Which export scale should you pick for a Twitter banner?

Pick 1× for X. It downloads at exactly 1500x500 pixels, the size X asks for. 2× gives 3000x1000 and 4× gives 6000x2000, with the same layout drawn at higher detail, which suits a slide, a print or a large screen.

X resizes uploads to its own header size, so a bigger file does not look sharper on your profile, it just takes longer to upload. The text is drawn in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How do you change your header on X?

Open your profile, press Edit profile, then press the camera icon on the header area and choose the PNG you downloaded. X shows a crop view: position the image, apply it and save the profile.

After you save, look at the profile on a phone as well as a computer to check that nothing important is hidden behind the profile photo. Then make the bio match the headline. The Twitter bio generator writes bio options that say the same thing in 160 characters.

Questions

How to make a Twitter banner?
Type a headline, a supporting line and your handle into this banner maker, pick a colour, background and alignment, and press Download PNG. Upload the file as your header in Edit profile on X.
How to make a good Twitter banner?
A good Twitter banner says one thing: what you do or what you want people to know, in a line they can read at a glance. Keep it clear of the lower left, where the profile photo sits, and of the top and bottom edges, which phones crop.
What are the dimensions for a Twitter banner?
The dimensions for a Twitter banner are 1500x500 pixels, a 3:1 ratio. The profile photo that overlaps it is 400x400 pixels, shown as a circle.
Is this Twitter banner maker free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark. The banner is drawn in your browser and downloads as a PNG.
Can I use the same banner on LinkedIn?
Not without changes. A LinkedIn profile background is 1584x396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio, so a 3:1 X banner gets cropped. Make a separate version for LinkedIn.
