Best Time to Tweet Calculator

The hours and days an account's posts do best, in your time zone.

How it works

What is the Best Time to Tweet Calculator?

The Best Time to Tweet Calculator is a free tool that finds when an X account's own posts do best. It sorts the account's recent original posts by weekday and hour in your time zone, scores each slot by its median post, and shows the five best slots and a weekday-by-hour heatmap.

How to use the Best Time to Tweet Calculator

  1. Enter the account in the X handle field. The @ is optional.
  2. Type your time zone in Your time zone, such as America/New_York or Asia/Kolkata, or leave it empty for UTC.
  3. Press Find times. The headline gives the single best weekday and hour.
  4. Read Top slots for the five best times, then the weekday by hour heatmap, where each cell gives the median score and the number of posts behind it.

When is the best time to tweet in 2026?

Published studies of millions of posts disagree. One puts the peak at 9am on Tuesday, another at midday to early evening on weekdays, and a third on Sunday morning. The closest they come to agreement is mid-morning, Tuesday to Thursday.

Your own account is a better guide than any of them, because your followers' time zones and habits are not the average's. That is what this tool measures: the hours your own posts have done best.

How does this tool pick the best times?

Each recent original post goes into a slot for its weekday and hour, in the time zone you give. A slot's score is its median post, so one viral post cannot make an hour look good on its own. Slots with at least two posts rank above slots with one.

When most posts show views, posts are scored by interactions per 1,000 views, which is fair to posts that reached fewer people. Otherwise they are scored by raw interactions. The heatmap label says which one was used.

Does the time you post matter on X?

It matters less than what you post, but it decides who sees a post first. A post is shown to followers who are on X when it goes up, so posting when yours are awake gives it a better start.

Treat the result as a schedule to test. Post in your top slots for a few weeks, then run the tool again and see whether the same hours still lead. The Twitter Analyzer shows whether the account's averages moved over the same weeks.

What is peak posting time?

Peak posting time is the part of the day when the people you want to reach are most active, so a new post meets the largest share of them while it is still fresh. It is a property of your audience, not of the platform, which is why it moves with their time zones, jobs and routines.

On this page, peak time is measured rather than assumed. The top slots are the weekday and hour combinations where your own recent posts scored best, in the time zone you entered. If those slots cluster, say weekday lunchtimes, that cluster is your peak. If they are spread across the week, the account's audience is either spread across time zones or does not depend much on timing.

A strong slot tells you when a post gets a good start, not whether the post itself is any good. Check a slot's best posts with the Twitter engagement rate calculator to see whether they would have scored well at any hour. If they would, the slot is flattering good writing rather than adding to it.

What time do people use Twitter the most?

X does not publish hour-by-hour usage figures, so any chart of when people use it most comes from a scheduling company's own sample of accounts. Those samples tend to show activity building through the working morning and staying high into the afternoon on weekdays, in the audience's local time, but the exact peak changes from study to study.

For your account, the useful question is narrower: when do the people who follow you respond? A developer audience, a sports audience and a news audience can be awake at the same hours and still be on X at different ones. The heatmap answers that question with your posts instead of someone else's averages.

The scoring is built to keep a busy hour from looking better than it is. When most posts show views, each one is scored by interactions per 1,000 views, so a post that reached a large crowd at a popular hour has to hold that crowd's attention to rank. A post shown to fewer people at a quiet hour can still come out ahead if more of them responded, which is often how a less crowded slot turns out to be the better one.

What is the best time to post on X on Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

Read the Fri, Sat and Sun rows of the heatmap. Each cell shows the median score for posts published in that hour on that day and the number of posts behind it, so you can see your own weekend pattern instead of a general one.

Many accounts post less at weekends, which leaves those rows thin. A weekend cell built from a single post can look strong by chance, and the tool ranks any slot with at least two posts above it for that reason. If the weekend matters to you, post there for a few weekends at different hours, then run the tool again so those rows have enough posts to compare.

Weekends suit posts that people read at leisure rather than at a desk, such as a long thread or a personal story. If you post a thread on a Saturday, the thread retention calculator shows whether weekend readers got further through it than weekday ones did. Compare the same kind of post on both days, because a thread and a one-line post are scored very differently.

How do I find the best time to post on Twitter in EST?

Type America/New_York into Your time zone. That one name covers both Eastern Standard Time and Eastern Daylight Time: each post is placed by the offset in force on the day it went out, so the slots do not shift by an hour when the clocks change. For other US zones use America/Chicago, America/Denver or America/Los_Angeles, and for the UK use Europe/London.

Enter the time zone where most of your followers live, which may not be yours. If you live in Europe but most of your readers are in the US, a slot read in New York time is the one you can schedule against. Leave the field empty and the tool reads everything in UTC.

Questions

What's the best time to tweet for engagement?
The best time to tweet for engagement is when your own followers interact most, which differs by account. Studies of large samples lean towards mid-morning, Tuesday to Thursday. Enter your handle here to see the weekdays and hours your own posts did best.
When is the best time to post on Twitter X?
There is no single best time to post on X for every account. Large studies disagree, from Tuesday at 9am to weekday afternoons to Sunday mornings. Your own posting history, sorted by weekday and hour, is the more reliable answer.
Best time to post on Twitter in India
For an audience in India, enter Asia/Kolkata as your time zone so the slots read in Indian Standard Time. The tool then shows the weekdays and hours your own recent posts did best, which matters more than a global average.
What is the best time to tweet today?
Find today's weekday in the heatmap and read along its row for the hours with the highest median score and at least two posts behind them. If today's row is mostly empty, the account has rarely posted on this weekday, and the top slots overall are the better guide.
How many posts does the tool look at?
It reads the account's most recent posts, up to 100, and keeps only original posts: replies and reposts of other people are left out. If you always post at the same hour, the heatmap can only judge that hour, so vary your times for a few weeks to give it more to compare.
Why are most of the heatmap cells empty?
A cell fills only when the account published at least one original post in that weekday and hour. An account that posts a few times a day covers a small part of the 168 hours in a week, so empty cells mean no data, not a bad time.
Can I check the best time to tweet for another account?
Yes. Any public handle works, so you can see when a competitor's posts do best. Treat it as a hint rather than a schedule, because their followers are not yours. For a protected account the tool stops, since its posts are private.
Does the best time to tweet differ by industry?
It can, because the best time depends on when your own followers are on X, and audiences keep different hours. That is why general studies, which average thousands of accounts, often disagree with what works for one account. This tool reads your own posts instead of an industry average.
